SFA League B Playoffs Season 2

Semi Final 2 - Huyton FC 0 - 2 GoonerwooG F.c
Theo Janssen provides the cutting edge

In a slightly 1 sided semi-final, it was GoonerwooG who dominated from start to finish, with their solid defense allowing only 2 chances at David James' goal. The first clear chance came in the 12th minute when the cultured Theo Janssen picked out Greek striker Angelos Charisteas, who shot over the bar from the edge of the box. The same duo then combined again in the 15th minute, this time for Charisteas to bring out a fine save from Federico Serriaocco. The roles were then reversed in the 43rd minute as Charisteas fed Janssen, who slotted the ball wide of Serriacco into the bottom left hand corner of the net. 1-0 GoonerwooG at the half-time whistle.

The second half began as the first finished, and Charisteas should really have made it 2-0 as he raced on to meet a Murilo through ball, only to blaze over. GoonerwooG made sure of their place in the final against FC Brighton in the 86th minute. Marcinho Guerreiro found substitute Natalio on the edge of the box, who played a lovely flick to Mao Jianqing. The Chinese forward made no mistake with the finish.

A very efficient performance for GoonerwooG, as we have come to expect from their tactically excellent manager Toby Woolgar.
